Footsteps

Hearing my footsteps clicking on the cobbled stones
and yet I am not moving.
Standing as still as the ageless oak tree in my backyard
covered in bark as wrinkled with time and wise beyond
my years.
It could be as simple or as difficult as I make it.
No comprehension in what I am feeling or to be precise,
what I am not feeling at all.

We have outer body experiences that leave us with so
many questions and no way to have them answered.
Life is cruel and will have us debating whether we will
live it or not.
To you I may sound confused but really I am the sanest
that I have ever been, skirting my immortality and
deciding if I will venture into tomorrow or just stay in today.
A moment can be a lifetime to some and a lifetime  may
have just been a moment to others.

We all cry for reasons that seem relevant at the time and our
laughter will carry in monosymbols through the air,  which
in fact helps all humanity to survive and yet it can be tainted
with a sour taste of retribution and ageless conflict.
Tortured beliefs and racist puppeteers that control our minds
through propaganda and greed to the point of sacrificing
our soul for a warm bed and money in our pockets.

Yesterday has its memories and for that I am grateful and
today has the ability to give me the power to see tomorrow
but am I prepared to relinquish who I am to make me what
I want to be.
So many possibilities that can be as endless as a winding road
but hold far more consequences that a Sunday drive in the country.
So this is my life and live it I must .

My footsteps are as silent as my thoughts but still as vital
as the blood coarsing through my veins because without my
determination to place one foot before the other there would
be no me and that would be a shame as I do like who I am,
what I stand for and the place I have made for myself beside you.
