Come walk with me

I walk this path with tenuous baby steps
my only thought  right before me
Here I am in another today with a heavy
heart that needs to find some rest

I see..
How blue the sky with its fairy floss clouds
and the sense of going on forever
With a solitary fledgling coursing its way
to who knows where

I smell..
My nostrils flare with an intake of oxygen
in the form of a gentle spring breeze
Encased with scents of the living and dead
of my today and perhaps tomorrow

I hear..
A rustle beneath my feet stirring grasses to
take on shapes of my footprints left behind
To tell tales of where I have been to
where I wish to go

I think..
Distance so far that eyes cannot comprehend
where it will end or from whence it began
Pure majesty of another day jostled with
yesterdays tinged with sadness and regret

I need..
To lay in fields of softest green drawing a
blanket of colored blooms around me
Against my skin their petals kiss my pain
and scent me with eternal hope

I want..
A day so perfect filled with love for all to
cherish and pass on to one another
A daisy chain of who you are and where
we belong to a semblance of what is right

I taste..
Sudden rain upon parched lips giving an end
to a thirst for the why's and why nots of life
Nature's open arms sharing the joy of what
will continue far beyond who we are

I feel..
Contentment in the knowledge that after
I am gone there will be you and yours
Following similar footsteps to where I have
been to places you need to go

It is..
A wise person who lives in the now with
faith in the morrow and has peace in yesterday
